Jo Abraham
Director
Jo is driven to address the underlying causes of Aboriginal disadvantage, and to contribute to community healing from complex intergenerational trauma.
Jo worked with the West Australian Stolen Generations Aboriginal Corporation and was exposed to the raw legacy of previous government policies separating families. This caused a better understanding of her own story of removal from Ngarluma family, culture and country.
In prior years, Jo worked as a metallurgical engineer in the WA/Vic mining industry.
Jo does not believe in charity, but in the empowerment of communities to champion their own wellbeing. To this end, she is committed to see the key theme of the Uluru Statement inform her work. “If it involves the mob, include the mob”.
B. Eng (Minerals), Curtin University, WASM;
Grad Cert Arts (Aboriginal Studies), University of Notre Dame Australia;
GAICD.
